What this app does

Daily Letdown sends you scheduled demotivational messages timed to your life events — wake-up, workouts, calendar meetings, bedtime. It is not a wellness app. It is a humor app that uses irony, sarcasm, and bluntness as its primary instruments.

Data we collect

• Account info — email address, hashed password, device tokens for push notifications.
• Schedule data — wake/sleep times, birthday, timezone.
• Calendar events — event titles and times from connected Google Calendar (read-only). We never modify your calendar.
• Health data — workout start/end times from Apple Health. We do not access steps, heart rate, or any other health metrics.
• Usage data — app opens, notification taps, and feature interactions for improving the service.

How we use your data

Exclusively to time and personalize demotivational messages. Your calendar titles help us write context-aware content. Your schedule data ensures we interrupt you at precisely the worst moment. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for advertising.

Third-party services

• Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — delivers notifications to iOS devices.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — delivers notifications to Android devices.
• OpenAI API — generates message content. Prompts may include anonymized schedule context (e.g. "user has a meeting at 2pm") but never your name, email, or identifiable information.
• Heroku / PostgreSQL — hosts our backend and database within the EU/US region.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. Backups are purged within 90 days.

Your rights

• Access — request a copy of your data at any time.
• Deletion — delete your account and all data from Settings → Delete Account.
• Portability — request an export of your data in machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent — revoke calendar or health permissions at any time in your device settings.

Children

This app is not intended for anyone under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you are under 17, please close this app and go do something less disappointing with your time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification.
